ARCHIVE VIDEO: Bruce Gilden: WYNC Culture: Street Shots

A short film that documents Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden hunting for images on the streets of New York City. “I’m known for taking pictures very close, and the older I get, the closer I get”. 

Bruce Gilden was born in 1946 in Brooklyn, New York and works as a street photographer. He is best known for his close-up portraits of people photographed candidly in black-and-white using a 35 mm camera and fill-in flashgun. He has had numerous books of his work published, has received the European Publishers Award for Photography and is a Guggenheim Fellow.
